How to install VibeUI components with an AI agent or the shadcn CLI

VibeUI is a shadcn-compatible registry. The simplest way is to press “Copy for AI” on a component page and paste it into Cursor or Claude Code — the agent runs npx shadcn add itself. Pro subscribers can add the @vibeui namespace to components.json once and install components by name.

1. Copy for AI — for Cursor, Claude Code and other agents

On a component page press “Copy for AI” and paste the text into your agent. It contains the install command with a link valid for 30 minutes, the dependencies, what to keep (animation, spacing, typography, responsive behaviour) and what you may change (copy, links, brand colour). The agent installs the real component instead of writing a lookalike.

2. The npx shadcn add command

You need a project with shadcn/ui (a components.json file). Sign in and open “Component source” on the component page — it gives the command with a signed link valid for 30 minutes. The bare URL without a signature or key returns 401: the free limit is counted per person.

npx shadcn@latest add "https://vibeui.club/r/pro/hero-001.json?exp=…&sig=…"

3. The @vibeui namespace in components.json (Pro)

Create a key in your account (“Connect your project”), put it into .env.local as VIBEUI_TOKEN and add the registry to components.json. After that components install by name — handy for agents and CI alike.

{
  "registries": {
    "@vibeui": {
      "url": "https://vibeui.club/r/pro/{name}.json",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${VIBEUI_TOKEN}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Install by name:

npx shadcn@latest add @vibeui/hero-001

FAQ

Does VibeUI work in a project that already uses shadcn/ui?

Yes. Components install with the same shadcn CLI command into your project's components folder; existing shadcn/ui components are left untouched.

Why does my agent recreate the component instead of installing it?

Given only a description or a screenshot, the agent writes its own version. The Copy for AI instruction contains the exact install command and an explicit “don't recreate it” rule, so the agent installs the original.

Do I need a key for free components?

No. Free components install from the Copy for AI link or the component page once you're signed in — 20 copies a month. The key comes with a Pro subscription.
