Input

Floating Label Input

A text field whose label slides into the border as you type. The label never disappears, and no separate line above the field is needed. Hint and error states are built in.

What you can change

  • the label and hint copy, and the error message
  • the accent through the accent prop — it colours the focus ring and the active label
  • size: md for fields in a form, lg for a single field owning the screen

For developers

The install command lives in the “Component source” block below — a signed link that stays valid for 24 hours.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-input-001-*. The floating label rides on the :placeholder-shown CSS selector, so no JS is needed and the component stays a server component. Inside there is a native <input> that accepts any of its props. The error is set by a string in error: it turns on data-invalid, aria-invalid and role="alert" on the note.
