Native Select

Multiple List

A multiple native select with the list already open and a note about the keys: without an explanation of Ctrl this control does not work.

What you can change

  • the field name through label, the key note through hint, the choices through options and the list height through rows
  • the selection color through accent
  • the highlight of a chosen row through option:checked

For developers

The install command lives in the “Component source” block below — a signed link that stays valid for 24 hours.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, palette in the local --vibeui-nativeselect-004-* variables. Server component: the only hook is useId, the state is held by the select itself through the multiple attribute. The list is opened up front by the size attribute (the rows prop): a collapsed multiple field shows only the first row and lies about how much is selected. Below the field there is a line with <kbd> naming the keys outright — otherwise nobody guesses about Ctrl and Shift. appearance:none is not needed here: an open list has no arrow, so the border and the rounding are set directly. Chosen options are highlighted by the option:checked rule, but how far the styling reaches depends on the platform.
