Phone Input

Country Code

A phone field with the country code in a native list and an emoji flag: the code and the number are two inputs fused into one border.

What you can change

  • the field name through label, the stub text through placeholder and the country set through countries
  • the focus color through accent
  • the country order: the most common ones usually go first

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, its palette in the local --vibeui-phoneinput-001-* variables. Server component: useId is the only hook, there is no state. The country code is a native <select>: on a phone it opens the system wheel rather than a hand-built list that does not fit the screen. The flag is an emoji in the option text, so neither sprites nor an icon package are needed. There is one border for the two fields: select and input have none, the [data-part="group"] wrapper draws it, and focus lights the whole pair through :has(:focus-visible) — otherwise half the border would light up. The number field is declared type="tel" with inputMode="tel" and autoComplete="tel-national": on a phone the numeric keypad opens, and autofill inserts the number without the country code.
