Cursors

Rope To The Node

A real rope stretches from the cursor to the nearest node: it sags under its own weight, springs on a jerk, pulls taut and snaps if you stretch it too far.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • nodes — the ports: label and position in fractions of the frame
  • reach — the distance beyond which the rope snaps
  • sag — the slack: 0 gives a string, 1 a rope

FAQ

How do I add Rope To The Node with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Rope To The Node depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Rope To The Node?
Adapt: nodes — the ports: label and position in fractions of the frame; reach — the distance beyond which the rope snaps; sag — the slack: 0 gives a string, 1 a rope. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-cursor-004-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the Verlet chain instead of a spring on transform: the lag of the tail and the sag come only from the physics; several constraint passes per frame: with one the rope stays rubbery.
Is Rope To The Node free?
The preview is open to everyone; the source is available with a PRO subscription.

Technical notes

The rope is a chain of sixteen knots solved with Verlet integration: each knot remembers its previous position, the velocity follows from the difference, and the distance between neighbours is held. The constraints are relaxed six times per frame: with a single pass the chain stays rubbery and sags more than it should. The first knot is always in the hand and the last is pinned to the port while the rope holds; when the nearest node leaves the reach the link snaps and the tail flies off — vanishing without a recoil would read as a rendering glitch. The rope is drawn as one curve through the midpoints of the segments: a polyline of sixteen points would give itself away with corners. The native cursor is hidden and the end of the rope takes its place. Frames are computed only while the hand is inside the field; prefers-reduced-motion leaves the rope still. The theme comes from the surroundings through light-dark().
