Background

Cursor Spotlight

A graphite background with a warm spot following the pointer and revealing the material's grid. For studios, portfolios and tool presentations. On touch and with reduced motion the light is static — the composition never depends on the effect.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • children — your content; radius and strength — the spot's size and power
  • accent — the light color
  • change the start point with the --vibeui-surface-002-x/y variables through style

FAQ

How do I add Cursor Spotlight with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Cursor Spotlight depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Cursor Spotlight?
Adapt: children — your content; radius and strength — the spot's size and power; accent — the light color; change the start point with the --vibeui-surface-002-x/y variables through style. Keep as installed: the imports from @/components/vibeui/ — do not inline their code into the block or swap in your own; the parts receive props only; the local --vibeui-surface-002-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; updates through CSS variables and rAF — do not rewrite onto setState: re-renders kill the smoothness.
Is Cursor Spotlight free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

For developers

npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/surface-002.json

This command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options

Technical notes

A composite block: imports from @/components/vibeui/ — the install command brings them along with the block. The block owns the layout and its own text, passes the parts props only and leaves their --vibeui-<name>-* palettes alone. The set's only client background ("use client"), zero npm dependencies besides react. Coordinates are written into the --vibeui-surface-002-x/y CSS variables through requestAnimationFrame with no state or re-renders; only pointerType === "mouse" is handled — on touch the spot stays at its start point. The light is a radial-gradient, the material grid is revealed by a mask around the spot. No system cursor replacement. Palette --vibeui-surface-002-*.
