Command

Nested Commands

A two-level palette: Enter on a command that takes a parameter drills into its subcommands, and Backspace on an empty query steps back out.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the commands array and its nested children
  • the field hints through the placeholder and childPlaceholder props
  • the footer text through hintText, childHintText and doneText

A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ

How do I add Nested Commands with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Nested Commands depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Nested Commands?
Adapt: the commands array and its nested children; the field hints through the placeholder and childPlaceholder props; the footer text through hintText, childHintText and doneText. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-command-004-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the level chip beside the field rather than breadcrumbs above the panel: context belongs where the caret is; stepping back with Backspace on an empty query — the familiar gesture that saves aiming at a close button.
Is Nested Commands free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

For developers

npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/command-004.json

This command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-command-004-* variables. Client-side: "use client" for the sake of the level and query state. A command with a children array is not executed but opens a second level: the query is reset, a breadcrumb chip with the parent name appears to the left of the field, and the list is replaced by the subcommands. Stepping back is bound to Backspace on an empty query and to Escape, as well as to the cross in the chip. The combobox, listbox and option roles are declared explicitly.
