Cascader

Snap Columns

An equipment-node cascader whose level columns live in a scroll-snap strip: on a narrow width they scroll instead of collapsing into a stack.

What you can change

  • label — the heading above the column strip
  • tree — the equipment tree, of any depth
  • defaultPath — the path expanded at first render

For developers

The install command lives in the “Component source” block below — a signed link that stays valid for 24 hours.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-cascader-018-* variables. Client-side: the path through the tree lives as a single array in useState. The columns are not kept in state but assembled by walking path on every render, so a choice at an upper level cuts off the extra columns automatically. The column strip is a flex with overflow-x and scroll-snap-type: x mandatory, every column a fixed 9.5rem wide with scroll-snap-align: start, so on a phone the columns page like slides rather than squeezing into unreadable strips. The level heading sticks through position: sticky. A node's status is shown by a dot and duplicated in words in the aria-label.
