Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own --vibeui-combobox-010-* palette. The root is a form with noValidate: browser validation cannot check a hand-drawn list, so the checking is done by the submit handler. The error is set only after an attempt to submit, not on every keystroke: telling someone off while they are still filling in the form is the worst thing a field can do. The field gets aria-invalid and an aria-describedby pointing at the message or at the hint, and the message lives in a role="alert" and is therefore spoken without moving focus. Enter in the field selects a row and does not submit the form — otherwise half of the people would submit it having missed the list. After a failed submit focus returns to the field.
