Technical notes
Client component: useState holds the array of selected values, whether the panel is open and the highlighted index. A trigger button (not a select) opens a role=listbox panel with aria-multiselectable — it is kept apart from select[multiple], because the chips need to live separately from the list field. A click on an option is caught on onMouseDown with preventDefault, so that it is not lost to the button's blur. useEffect closes the panel on a click outside the root. A chip is a separate span with a remove button inside; the buttons are not nested in one another. If name is passed, every selected value is rendered as its own hidden input. The palette lives in --vibeui-select-013-*.
