Technical notes
Client component: useState holds the selected value, whether the panel is open and the highlighted index. A trigger button (not a select) opens a role=listbox panel — a native option cannot draw a second line of text, so the explanation lives in a separate span next to the option's title. After a choice the trigger shows only the short name: the explanations have already done their work at the moment of comparison. A click on an option is caught on onMouseDown with preventDefault, so that it is not lost to the button's blur. useEffect closes the panel on a click outside the root. The palette lives in --vibeui-select-015-*.
