Technical notes
Client component: useState holds the selected value, whether the panel is open and the highlighted index. A trigger button (not a select) opens a role=listbox panel — an initials avatar and a role caption do not fit into the text of a native option. The avatar hue is computed from the name by the hue function (FNV-1a over the code points, 12 steps of 30° around the wheel) — the same technique as in autocomplete-011. A click on an option is caught on onMouseDown with preventDefault, so that it is not lost to the button's blur. useEffect closes the panel on a click outside the root and moves focus into the list when it opens. If name is passed, the value goes out through a hidden input. The palette lives in --vibeui-select-014-*.
