Ratio Frame

A frame with a fixed ratio that holds the space until the content loads. The ratio arrives as a variable rather than a class — "16 / 9" is data.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • ratio — any proportion as a string: "16 / 9", "4 / 3", "1 / 1"
  • children — an img, video, iframe or your own markup
  • label — the empty-frame caption

A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ

How do I add Ratio Frame with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Ratio Frame depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Ratio Frame?
Adapt: ratio — any proportion as a string: "16 / 9", "4 / 3", "1 / 1"; children — an img, video, iframe or your own markup; label — the empty-frame caption. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-aspect-001-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens (bg-muted, border-border and the like); the ratio as a variable rather than a set of classes: a proportion is data; object-fit:cover on the direct children: without it the image stretches and the ratio loses its point.
Is Ratio Frame free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-aspect-001-*. The ratio arrives as a prop into the --vibeui-aspect-001-ratio variable and is substituted into aspect-ratio: breeding a class per proportion means deciding in advance for the user which ones they will need. Direct img, video and iframe children stretch across the whole frame with object-fit:cover. An empty frame shows hatching and a label so that it does not look broken. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the frame has no background by default, it sits on the page background and darkens with it, and the background prop turns the fill on.
