Sortable Table Columns

A table whose columns are reordered instead of its rows: the order lives in a single array, so headers and data cannot drift apart.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the columns and rows arrays
  • caption — the table caption
  • the gripLabel and the announcements strings — they take {column}, {position} and {total}

FAQ

How do I add Sortable Table Columns with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Sortable Table Columns depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Sortable Table Columns?
Adapt: the columns and rows arrays; caption — the table caption; the gripLabel and the announcements strings — they take {column}, {position} and {total}. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-sortable-003-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the table, th and scope="col" markup: dragging is no reason to break table semantics; one shared column array for the header and the body — otherwise data drifts from labels.
Is Sortable Table Columns free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-sortable-003-*. Client-side: "use client" for the sake of the column order. The body cells are drawn from the same array of column descriptions as the headers, so they cannot drift apart. The header stays a th element with scope="col": dragging is no reason to turn a table into a set of divs. The grip inside th is a button with left and right arrows, the mouse path is a native drag with a vertical insertion line, and the result goes into a role=status live region. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the component has no surface of its own by default, it sits directly on the page background. The grip label and the live-region phrases are lifted into props, the Russian values remain the defaults.
