Tree
Selectable Keyboard Tree
A tree with a selected node and a full keyboard: arrows only move focus, Enter or Space selects, so the tree does not "select" everything you pass over.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the tree contents through nodes, including the open flag on branches
- the tree caption through label
- the selected row colour through the palette variables

FAQ
- How do I add Selectable Keyboard Tree with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Selectable Keyboard Tree depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Selectable Keyboard Tree?
- Adapt: the tree contents through nodes, including the open flag on branches; the tree caption through label; the selected row colour through the palette variables. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-tree-004-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; keeping focus and selection separate: selecting with arrows would select everything on the way; the flat traversal order for the keys: computing Down over the nested structure gets it wrong.
- Is Selectable Keyboard Tree free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-tree-004-* variables. Client component: the expansion, focus and selection state lives in useState, and the nodes are kept in a ref map for a programmatic focus(). The markup is nested — a treeitem owns its group — while the traversal order is assembled as a separate flat list of the visible nodes: Up and Down, Home and End are computed over it. Right expands a branch or descends into it, Left collapses it or moves up to the parent. Focus and selection are kept separate on purpose: only Enter and Space change aria-selected. The selected row is marked not only by the fill but also by a bar on the left.
