Avatar Grid
A grid of faces instead of a stack: the whole team is visible, and the browser works out the column count through auto-fill.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the names array and the title
- the minimum cell width in grid-template-columns
- the face size through the size variable
A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ
- How do I add Avatar Grid with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Avatar Grid depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Avatar Grid?
- Adapt: the names array and the title; the minimum cell width in grid-template-columns; the face size through the size variable. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-avatar-016-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; auto-fill with minmax instead of a fixed column count — the rows must reflow on their own; the captions under the faces: circles never answer who is on the team.
- Is Avatar Grid free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.
For developers
npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/avatar-016.jsonThis command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options
Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-avatar-016-* variables. Server-side: there are no hooks. The columns are set by repeat(auto-fill, minmax(4.5rem, 1fr)), so the browser works out their number from the actual width rather than a prop: when the width changes, the rows reflow on their own. The circle's hue is derived from the name by an FNV-1a function, so one person always keeps one colour. The names are captioned under the faces and truncated with an ellipsis — a truncated name is more honest than a tooltip that never appears on a phone. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the dark branch is not an inversion of the light one — the circle fill, the rings and the statuses each have their own pair of lightnesses.
