Photo Avatar
The base avatar: a photo, a presence dot and three sizes. With no photo the initials stay, on a background derived from the name.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the photo via src — without it the initials stay
- the name via name: the initials and the fallback hue come from it
- size — sm, md or lg

FAQ
- How do I add Photo Avatar with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Photo Avatar depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Photo Avatar?
- Adapt: the photo via src — without it the initials stay; the name via name: the initials and the fallback hue come from it; size — sm, md or lg. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-avatar-001-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens (bg-muted, text-muted-foreground and the like); deriving the hue from the name: hueOf is deterministic, while a random colour would change on every render; tying background and text to a single --vibeui-avatar-001-hue through oklch — that is what keeps contrast at any hue.
- Is Photo Avatar free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.
For developers
npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/avatar-001.jsonThis command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options
Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-avatar-001-* variables. The photo is supplied through the src prop as a plain <img> with object-fit: cover — the component is portable and does not depend on next/image. Without a photo the initials are shown, and the background hue is computed from the name by the deterministic hueOf function and fed into the --vibeui-avatar-001-hue variable: the background and the letter colour are derived from it through oklch, so contrast holds at any hue. The full name lies in hidden text for a screen reader, and the initials are marked aria-hidden. The theme comes from color-scheme through light-dark(), and the component switches the class-based dark theme on for itself.
