Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-avatar-020-* variables. Server-side: there are no hooks. The badge sits in a mask-image cut-out, so the gap between the number and the portrait stays even on any background. More than ninety-nine is shown as "99+": an exact number in a circle is unreadable and changes nothing. Zero is not drawn at all — an empty circle reads as "there is something new". The number is duplicated in words in the hidden caption, otherwise it stays a mute badge for a screen reader. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the dark branch is not an inversion of the light one — the circle fill, the rings and the statuses each have their own pair of lightnesses.
