Code Block

Height Cap

A code block capped by height rather than by line count: it expands smoothly and needs no scripts. Change the code and the collapsed height.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the block code through code
  • the file path through path
  • the collapsed height through collapsedHeight

FAQ

How do I add Height Cap with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Height Cap depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Height Cap?
Adapt: the block code through code; the file path through path; the collapsed height through collapsedHeight. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-codeblock-025-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the checkbox as the source of state: with useState the block stops working before hydration; the bottom mask only while collapsed: when open it hides real code.
Is Height Cap free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

For developers

npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/codeblock-025.json

This command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-codeblock-025-* variables. Server component: the state is held by a native checkbox, and the root :has(input:checked) selector moves the code area from the collapsed block height to the expansion limit. Both heights arrive as props and go into CSS variables, so the max-height animation runs between two known values rather than up to auto. The bottom edge mask is on only in the collapsed state, and the toggle caption is swapped by a pair of spans hidden through :has().
