Toast
Countdown Toast
A countdown to an automatic action: the bar and the digits run down together, hover and focus pause the countdown, and a button resets the full duration.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the warning text through message and the post-expiry text through expiredMessage
- the countdown length through seconds
- the button captions through extendLabel and closeLabel, and the paused suffix through pausedText

FAQ
- How do I add Countdown Toast with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Countdown Toast depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Countdown Toast?
- Adapt: the warning text through message and the post-expiry text through expiredMessage; the countdown length through seconds; the button captions through extendLabel and closeLabel, and the paused suffix through pausedText. Keep as installed: pausing on both hover and keyboard focus — not just the mouse cursor, or a keyboard user won't have time to read it; the bar and the mm:ss digital timer together — the bar gives an overall sense of time left, the digits give an exact value; calling onExpire exactly once when it hits zero instead of on every tick.
- Is Countdown Toast free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-toast-020-* variables. Client-side: "use client". The remaining milliseconds are held in useState and decrease in useEffect through setInterval, while the pause flag lies in useRef and is kept in sync with the state so that the interval is not recreated on every re-render; hover and keyboard focus (onMouseEnter/Leave, onFocus/onBlur) pause it in exactly the same way. On reaching zero, onExpire is called once (a flag in useRef guards against a repeat), and the "Stay signed in" button returns left to the original total and calls onExtend. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(), while the background prop replaces only the card surface. The "paused" suffix is drawn by ::after from the --vibeui-toast-020-paused-text variable, so its text is set by the pausedText prop rather than hardwired into the CSS.
