Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, the palette in the --vibeui-stepper-008-* variables. Server component: the required steps are counted at render. Optionality is marked three times: by a word in the label, by the item's dashed border and by a dashed circle — colour plays no part here at all. The counter at the top deliberately counts required steps only: "2 of 6" is intimidating when four steps can be skipped. The items sit in a wrapping ol, so a long list does not run off into a scroll but rebuilds into several rows. The current step is marked aria-current="step", and the states are duplicated by a hidden phrase.
