Edit Trail

A document revision history where the edit type is a visible coloured pill with a word, not an icon or a hidden label, plus the author and time of each entry.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the heading through title
  • the entries through entries: time, dateTime, author, the kind type and the note
  • the set of types: add a line to KIND_LABEL and a hue rule; the labels are overridden through the kindText prop

A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

How to use

<Timeline010
  title="Document edits"
  entries={[
    { time: "today, 14:20", dateTime: "2026-03-14T14:20", author: "Mark Ivanov", kind: "edit", note: "Pricing section rewritten" },
    { time: "yesterday, 18:05", dateTime: "2026-03-13T18:05", author: "Anna Petrova", kind: "comment", note: "\"Check the numbers\"" },
  ]}
/>

A sample call. The agent installs the component itself from the registry via the “Copy for AI” link.

FAQ

How do I add Edit Trail with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Edit Trail depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Edit Trail?
Adapt: the heading through title; the entries through entries: time, dateTime, author, the kind type and the note; the set of types: add a line to KIND_LABEL and a hue rule; the labels are overridden through the kindText prop. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-timeline-010-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the visible edit-type pill: an icon or a hidden label do not convey the type at a glance; the type hue in the single --vibeui-timeline-010-hue variable — otherwise four types become four rule sets.
Is Edit Trail free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

For developers

npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/timeline-010.json

This command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, the palette in the local --vibeui-timeline-010-* variables. Server component: no hooks. The edit type is a visible text pill whose colour is set by the single --vibeui-timeline-010-hue variable, overridden by a rule keyed to data-kind: four types cost four lines of CSS instead of four rule sets. Unlike a history with a line diff, what matters here is not the size of the edit but its nature — a text edit, a comment, access rights or an attachment. The time is a <time dateTime>. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the block has no surface by default, it sits on the page background and darkens along with it.
