Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own --vibeui-combobox-008-* palette. Client component: there are two states — the typed query and the shown one — and the waiting state is derived from them: while the shown one has not caught up with the typed one, the list counts as in transit, and there is no separate loading flag. useEffect only sets a timer on delay and clears it on the next keystroke, so a stale answer does not overwrite a fresh one, and there is no synchronous setState in the effect body. The panel keeps a min-height and the skeletons repeat the row height — the panel does not jump when the state changes. The field declares aria-busy while waiting and the skeleton block is a role="status" with a caption, so the loading is spoken. An empty result does not end at a message: below it lie buttons with queries that are known to return something. The list is hidden with the hidden attribute rather than removed — aria-controls has to point at an existing node.
