Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-combobox-027-* variables. Client component: the query, the value and the cursor live in useState. useMemo first filters the people by name and role, then applies a stable sort by status rank (online 0, away 1, offline 2) — people with the same status keep their original order. The avatar hue is computed from the name with the same FNV-1a hash as in the people picker and arrives in the inline --vibeui-combobox-027-hue variable. The status dot is an absolutely positioned pseudo-element in the corner of the avatar, aria-hidden="true", because the status is already there as a word in the detail caption — colour is not the sole carrier of meaning.
