Compact Contents

One outline in two shapes: a wide block keeps it as a left column, a narrow one folds it into a disclosure whose summary names the current section.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the outline heading through title
  • the collapse threshold through compactAt, in pixels
  • the sections through sections: id, title and text

A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ

How do I add Compact Contents with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Compact Contents depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Compact Contents?
Adapt: the outline heading through title; the collapse threshold through compactAt, in pixels; the sections through sections: id, title and text. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-scrollspy-007-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the threshold on the block width (ResizeObserver), not the window width: the block may sit in a narrow column; the current section's name in the collapsed summary — without it the collapsed outline is useless.
Is Compact Contents free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

For developers

npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/scrollspy-007.json

This command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, the palette in local variables --vibeui-scrollspy-007-*. Client-side ("use client") — IntersectionObserver and ResizeObserver are needed. The collapse threshold is measured against the block's own width, not the window width: the same component may sit in a narrow column on a large screen. In compact mode the list lives inside <details>, and the current section stands in the summary heading — a collapsed outline has to answer "where am I". The links stay plain anchors and close the list after a choice.
