Content Skeleton

A loading placeholder that mirrors the metrics of the content to come — same line heights, same gaps — so the page does not jump when the data arrives.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • shape: text for a paragraph, avatar for a list row, block for an image or a map
  • lines — how many rows the text shape draws
  • label — what is loading; a screen reader announces this text

A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ

How do I add Content Skeleton with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Content Skeleton depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Content Skeleton?
Adapt: shape: text for a paragraph, avatar for a list row, block for an image or a map; lines — how many rows the text shape draws; label — what is loading; a screen reader announces this text. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-skeleton-001-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens (bg-muted, animate-pulse and the like); matching the metrics of the real content: the line height and gaps are the whole point, otherwise the page jumps on load; the shortened last line: without it the paragraph placeholder looks like a table.
Is Content Skeleton free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-skeleton-001-*. The shimmer is a movement of background-position on a gradient 200% wide rather than a separate layer: only the background is repainted. The three shapes (text, avatar, block) are switched by a data attribute. The container is declared as role="status" with aria-busy and a label, so a screen reader reports the loading instead of staying silent.
