Blocking Busy Overlay

An overlay that actually blocks: the content is marked inert, so no clickable buttons or tab-reachable fields survive underneath the veil.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the overlay text through label
  • turning the block on through busy
  • the block content — any node in the slot

FAQ

How do I add Blocking Busy Overlay with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Blocking Busy Overlay depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Blocking Busy Overlay?
Adapt: the overlay text through label; turning the block on through busy; the block content — any node in the slot. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-spinner-005-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; inert on the content: without it clickable buttons and tab-reachable fields survive under the veil; aria-busy on the region — otherwise a screen reader says nothing about the block being busy.
Is Blocking Busy Overlay free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes

A server component, there are no hooks: the state arrives through the busy prop. A translucent veil forbids nothing on its own — working buttons and fields remain beneath it, and Tab reaches them. Here the content gets the inert attribute, which removes it both from focus and from the accessibility tree, while aria-busy is set on the region so that a screen reader reports the work. The veil is filled with its own translucent token, --vibeui-spinner-005-veil, plus a backdrop-filter: it mutes the content without hiding it entirely, and the user can see exactly what is being saved. Under prefers-reduced-motion the ring breathes instead of spinning. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the component has no background by default — it sits on the page background and darkens with it, while the background prop switches on a panel.
