Technical notes
A server component, there are no hooks. Unlike the card built on an opacity pulse, the placeholder here is a table row, and a single overlay element with a linear gradient travels across it through transform: translateX, without recalculating the layout of the cells beneath. The avatar and the row cells are static and merely outline the future metrics of the row. For a screen reader this is one role="status" message with an aria-label, not five grey rectangles. Under prefers-reduced-motion the shine freezes as a static patch in the centre. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the component has no background by default — it sits on the page background and darkens with it, while the background prop switches on a panel.
