Checkbox & toggles
Permission Tree
A checkbox tree with inheritance: a branch toggles all of its leaves at once, and its own state is computed back from them.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the nodes array — a tree of any depth
- title — the block heading
- the initial defaultValue built from leaf identifiers
A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ
- How do I add Permission Tree with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Permission Tree depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Permission Tree?
- Adapt: the nodes array — a tree of any depth; title — the block heading; the initial defaultValue built from leaf identifiers. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-checkbox-021-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; keeping state for leaves only: a branch state must be derived, or the tree drifts out of sync; stopping propagation on the tick inside <summary> — otherwise clicking it collapses the branch.
- Is Permission Tree free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-checkbox-021-* variables. A client component: "use client". State is kept for the leaves only; a branch computes its own from the list of its descendants, so the tree works at any depth. indeterminate is set through an effect in every row. The branches sit in <details> with a hidden marker, and a click on the tick inside <summary> stops propagation, otherwise it would collapse the branch. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): by default the component lays no panel under itself, sits directly on the page background and darkens along with it; the background prop brings the panel back.
