Dropdown menu
Anchored Dropdown
A dropdown with no JS: the HTML popover attribute handles opening, and CSS anchor positioning keeps it next to its button.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the items array: labels, hrefs, the separated and danger flags
- trigger — the button label
- id — one per menu on the page
A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ
- How do I add Anchored Dropdown with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Anchored Dropdown depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Anchored Dropdown?
- Adapt: the items array: labels, hrefs, the separated and danger flags; trigger — the button label; id — one per menu on the page. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-dropdown-001-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens (bg-popover, border-border and the like); the popover mechanism: popovertarget on the button and popover="auto" on the menu are the whole behaviour; the anchor-name / position-anchor pair together with position-area: without them a top-layer menu lands in the middle of the screen.
- Is Anchored Dropdown free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-dropdown-001-*. Opening comes from the popover and popovertarget attributes, and the placement from anchor-name on the button and position-anchor with position-area on the menu, inside @supports. The menu lives in the top layer, so it is styled by the [data-vibeui-dropdown-001-menu] attribute and gets its palette through its own style. The open prop moves the menu into the page flow for the showcase and for screenshots: popover is not used in that mode.
