Split Code

A code split into groups by a dash: boxes inside a group share one border, and the dash is drawn — nobody types it.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • the split in the groups prop — [3,3], [2,2,2] or [4,4]
  • the label and hint copy
  • the look of the separator between groups

A link for your AI agent: preview, code and instructions.

FAQ

How do I add Split Code with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Split Code depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Split Code?
Adapt: the split in the groups prop — [3,3], [2,2,2] or [4,4]; the label and hint copy; the look of the separator between groups. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-otp-005-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; groups as presentation, not as parts of the value: a paste spreads across every box at once; the collapsed borders inside a group and the z-index lift on the focused box — otherwise a neighbour clips the ring.
Is Split Code free?
Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-otp-005-*. Client component: "use client". The groups are given as an array of lengths, so "3-3", "2-2-2" and "4-4" are one and the same component. Inside a group the boxes are attached by collapsed borders, the corners are rounded only at the ends of the group, and the focused box is lifted with z-index. The dash is its own element with aria-hidden. A paste is intercepted on any box and spread across every group at once.
