Calendar

Birth Date Fields

A date of birth as three fields instead of a month grid: day, month and year typed from the keyboard, with validation that separates an impossible day, a future date and an age limit.

React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

What you can change

  • label — the heading of the field group
  • defaultValue — the initial date as a YYYY-MM-DD string, or empty
  • minAge — the minimum age below which the form complains

FAQ

How do I add Birth Date Fields with Cursor or Claude Code?
Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
What does Birth Date Fields depend on?
No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
What can I change in Birth Date Fields?
Adapt: label — the heading of the field group; defaultValue — the initial date as a YYYY-MM-DD string, or empty; minAge — the minimum age below which the form complains. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-calendar-024-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens (border-input, text-destructive and the like); three separate fields instead of a calendar: picking a birth year in a month grid is dozens of taps; the autoComplete attributes bday-day, bday-month and bday-year: without them the browser will not fill a saved date.
Is Birth Date Fields free?
The preview is open to everyone; the source is available with a PRO subscription.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, zero dependencies, its own palette in local variables --vibeui-calendar-024-*. Client-side: the three parts of the date live in separate useStates, and onChange hands out the assembled YYYY-MM-DD string, or an empty string if the date is incomplete. The root is a <fieldset> with a <legend>, every field has its own <label>, and autofill is enabled by the attributes autoComplete="bday-day|bday-month|bday-year". The month is a <select> with names from Intl, so the digit 07 does not argue with the date format of the user's country. The validation is assembled in a single useMemo and returns not a boolean but an idle/ok/bad state with text: the number of days in a month is computed through new Date(year, month, 0).getDate(), and the age by comparing month and day. The state is lifted to the root as data-state, so the field borders and the label colour are painted by a single rule.
