Required Counter
A field with a required marker next to the label and a character counter to the left of the field: both limits sit next to the value, not in separate corners.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.
What you can change
- the label, placeholder and defaultValue copy
- the maxLength prop — the upper length bound
- the required prop — whether to show the required marker

FAQ
- How do I add Required Counter with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does Required Counter depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in Required Counter?
- Adapt: the label, placeholder and defaultValue copy; the maxLength prop — the upper length bound; the required prop — whether to show the required marker. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-inputgroup-031-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the asterisk and the “required” text together — the icon is not the only carrier of meaning; the counter's position to the left of the field as a fixed segment inside the shared border.
- Is Required Counter free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.
For developers
npx shadcn@latest add https://vibeui.club/r/pro/inputgroup-031.jsonThis command needs a signed link: sign in and open “Component source” below — it issues a working link valid for 30 minutes. All install options
Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the local --vibeui-inputgroup-031-* variables. Client-side: "use client" for the sake of the value and the character count state. The asterisk and the «required» text stand next to the label rather than replacing each other — the requirement is marked both by a sign and by a word. The counter is a fixed segment to the left of the input inside the shared frame rather than a caption under the field, and it changes colour once the remaining characters are used up.
