File Type Chips
A file type filter that shows the extension as text instead of an icon: three letters read unambiguously, while a "sheet with a folded corner" is the same for every type.
React + Tailwind, shadcn-compatible: press “Copy for AI” and your Cursor or Claude Code agent installs it with the shadcn CLI.

FAQ
- How do I add File Type Chips with Cursor or Claude Code?
- Press “Copy for AI” on this page and paste it into your agent's chat. The instruction contains the shadcn CLI install command, the dependencies and what to keep, so the agent installs this exact component instead of recreating a lookalike.
- What does File Type Chips depend on?
- No npm packages beyond React and Tailwind CSS.
- What can I change in File Type Chips?
- Adapt: the types, their extensions and hues through kinds; the initially enabled types through defaultValue; the accessible group name through label. Keep as installed: the local --vibeui-buttongroup-047-* palette — do not swap it for your theme tokens; the extension as text instead of an icon: the "sheet of paper" silhouette is identical for every type; the colour passed as a hue into an oklch formula — the text contrast then holds at any hue.
- Is File Type Chips free?
- Yes. The preview is open without an account; with a free account you can copy up to 20 components a month.

Technical notes
The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own palette in the --vibeui-buttongroup-047-* variables. It is a server component: the choice is multiple, with checkboxes inside. The plate colour arrives as a hue number and is passed in through the inline --vibeui-buttongroup-047-hue variable, while the colours themselves are assembled by the formulas oklch(0.94 0.06 hue) and oklch(0.42 0.15 hue): the palette stays a single formula rather than a set of hardcoded values, and the contrast of the text against the background holds at every hue. The chips are not chained together, they wrap across rows with a gap — the list of extensions grows, and a rigid cluster would run off the screen. The selected chip is marked with a border and an inset box-shadow in the same colour so that the line looks equally thick.
